Throughout the year we will offer Beginner, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes with instructor Bob Blackmore. Jump in at any point to start this rich, challenging game or refresh your skills!
Bob Blackmore is a retired community college instructor with 30 years of teaching experience. Bob started learning bridge when he was 8 (a major game playing family) and has been playing ever since. Bob follows the guidelines established by the American Contract Bridge League and works to make these classes INTERACTIVE and FUN.

Beginner's Contract Bridge - An Exposure Class
Learn how to play contract bridge and have fun doing it! This eight week class covers:
*The rules of bridge
*The basics of the Modern Standard American Bidding System
*An introduction to the tools of declarer play and defensive play
Most important, these are hands-on classes that allow you to play as you learn and have fun doing it. Come out and give it a try!
Advanced Beginner's Bridge - A Familiarity Class
Have you learned the basics of bridge but feel that you need more? Did you play long ago and far away but need a refresher?
If you answered YES to either, then join us in this eight week advanced beginner's class and get up to speed. We will do a solid review if the Modern Standard American Bidding System and the tools of card play, both declarer and defense. We will also look t some of the bidding conventions most good players have added to their game. All in all it's an interactive, hands-on environment which provides solid familiarity with the concepts while having fun. Please come and join us!
Intermediate Contract Bridge - A Competency Class
Are you playing bridge often but finding gaps in your skills? Did you learn from friends but are now having some trouble “putting it all together?” This eight week class begins with the assumption that you are a bridge player who would like to polish their game. Move from familiarity to a comfortable competency; understand the underlying reasons why things are done as they are; and, build a bridge picture in your mind that allows you to cope with all the thousands of possibilities that can come your way. All in an interactive, hands-on environment. A bonus is the new friends you will meet!
Sharpening Skills for Advanced Bridge Players
This course is designed to allow strong players to improve specific areas each week. The instruction is based on the “Thinking Bridge” series by Eddie Kantar. Some of his hands have been featured in the newspaper columns from time to time. Students will be given hands to bid and play. Then each hand will be analyzed with emphasis on best play, and on the why of best play. Mr. Kantar has selected points to emphasize that will improve the play of even strong players.
Advanced Contract Bridge Techniques - An Expert Level Class
Defensive Techniques
This class offers a series of specific techniques for best defensive play in contract bridge. Each session will cover one specific method in detail, with ample hands-on practice time. The declarer always has a plan for making his contract, and it is your job to spoil that plan. Come and join us in studying this often neglected part of contract bridge play.
