Check Return Policies


A uniform $25 fee will be charged by all Departments to the maker of the Returned Check.
This fee will be adjusted if our bank’s charges change.
The fee may be waived on a case-by-case basis if approved by the Finance Director (City) or Business Manager (School).
It is our policy with the bank that all insufficient funds checks shall be deposited a second time before being deducted from our account and sent back to us. This usually permits some time for the maker to deposit sufficient funds into its account when notified of the situation after the first refusal. There is no charge to the maker for this if the check clears on the second attempt. A second refusal triggers the return of the check to the City.
